Vlogger “Brader” Crist Briand Issues Public Apology to Muslim Community, Promises One-Month Social Media Hiatus
CRIST BRIAND – Social media vlogger Crist Briand Oncoda, better known as Brader, has publicly apologized after his controversial “Baboy na Halal” post sparked outrage within the Muslim community.
Social media personality Crist Briand Oncoda, more popularly known as Brader, has issued a public apology following backlash over his controversial “Baboy na Halal” post that offended members of the Muslim community. The apology was made on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in Davao City.
“I sincerely apologize for the post I made, which offended members of the Muslim community. I understand that my words and actions were inappropriate and caused pain, and I take full responsibility,” Brader said in his statement.

Acknowledging the seriousness of the issue, the vlogger pledged to temporarily withdraw from social media. “I will refrain from creating and posting any content for a month. I will attend a psychiatric consultation together with my mother in order to better understand myself and my actions,” he added.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)-Davao Region, along with the Davao City Muslim Affairs Office (DCMAO), facilitated an amicable settlement between Oncoda and the aggrieved community. NCMF Regional Director Arch. Sherilla Porza-Sawah emphasized the importance of reconciliation, saying, “This settlement is not only about addressing an offense, but also about building bridges of respect and understanding within our diverse communities.”
As part of the agreement, Brader committed to suspending all social media activity for one month, except for weekly reposts of his public apology. He also agreed to participate in community service initiatives such as feeding programs and immersions that will benefit local Muslim communities, under the supervision of NCMF and DCMAO.
To ensure accountability, the vlogger must also attend psychiatric consultations with his mother and provide regular updates on his progress. Once his suspension and service commitments are completed, he will join a peace advocacy campaign to promote cultural sensitivity and responsible use of digital platforms.
The NCMF stressed that Brader “shall at all times conduct himself in a manner befitting a true Dabawenyo, upholding the values of ‘Dabawenyo DCplinado,’ by exercising respect, accountability, and cultural sensitivity in his words and actions, both online and offline.”
In his closing remarks, Brader vowed not to repeat his mistake: “I shall conduct myself in a manner that befits a true Dabawenyo, by exercising respect and accountability and cultural sensitivity in my words and actions, both online and offline. Thank you for giving me the chance to correct my mistake and to grow from this experience.”
