Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks before the Ilocanos on Late Father’s 108th Birthday
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President led the wreath-laying ceremony in Ilocos Norte in honor of his late father, former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. on his 108th birthday.
There are a lot of problems in the Philippines now. One of them is the issue of anomalous flood control projects funded by the Philippine government in the different areas across the nation. Despite the problems of the country, Pres. Marcos said he has no regrets in being president and he considers it the “greatest privilege”. He stressed that the presidency gave him the chance to do something about the things that he complains about.

Before Pres. Bongbong Marcos became the chief executive, someone very dear to him has sat in the presidency not just for six years but for over a decade — his late father, former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Undeniably, Marcos Sr. is one of the most popular presidents of the country. He declared Martial Law during his term and he was ousted through the historical EDSA People Power Revolution.

Today, the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. is celebrating his 108th birthday. A wreath-laying ceremony was held in his hometown, Batac, Ilocos Norte. The event was led by his one and only son, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Marcos Jr. gave a speech at the wreath-laying ceremony in honor of his late father. Speaking before the Ilocanos, he emphasized the value of remembering the “deep legacy” of his late father.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos also called on the Ilocanos to be worthy of the legacy his father has left. He stressed that the late former President has lived a life of “service, commitment and sacrifice”.
“What we need to do is to make ourselves worthy of that legacy, worthy inheritors of that legacy. That we must also live up to the standards that he set for us. That we must always continue to remember what we are doing, and that what we are doing is not for ourselves. What we are doing is for the country. What we are doing is for the Filipino people,” the Chief Executive said.

Moreover, based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also told his fellow Ilocanos that they must be encouraged by the lessons left by former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. which is to exercise good judgment and always prioritize the side of the national interest and the interest of the Filipino people.
“We will not allow for any great power, any person, to humiliate or to put down any Filipino. We must also always remember that we must do the right thing – that despite it is – despite the difficulties, we must always find ourselves on the right side of history,” Marcos Jr. said.
According to the President, his father has always told him about finding one’s path. Based on the report, he stressed that the late former Chief Executive told him not to go by the path that is usually taken by others as he will end up in the same place if he will keep on following other people.
“And that is the most important lesson – in that we cannot continue to just do as we refer to it now “business as usual,” just go and continue what has always been done,” the President said.
Despite the problems of the country now, Pres. Bongbong Marcos touted the Philippine economy and the global view on the country and the Filipino people.
