Sen. Bato dela Rosa Speaks to Senate Pres. Tito Sotto over Accusations Involving House Speaker Martin Romualdez
BATO DELA ROSA – The Minority Senator spoke on the accusations that Senate President Tito Sotto is allegedly under House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Amid the flood control issue in the Philippines, several senators and congressmen were dragged into the mess. After some senators were accused to be allegedly involved in the issue, the Senate decided for a revamp. The chamber now has a new set of leadership.

The Senate is now led by Senate Pres. Tito Sotto with Sen. Ping Lacson as the Senate President Pro Tempore. Former Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada and Majority Leader Joel Villanueva were accused of receiving kickbacks from the flood control projects by Brice Hernandez, a dismissed engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Hernandez worked in DPWH Bulacan district. Following the Senate revamp, an internal issue rose in the chamber over the detention of the former DPWH engineer. Senate Pres. Tito Sotto previously claimed that the concerns over his detention is allegedly just a gimmick of the Minority bloc.

The statement of Senate Pres. Tito Sotto did not sit well with Sen. Bato dela Rosa who immediately stressed that the Senate is not a “noontime TV show taking up only gimmicks”. His remarks also did not sit well with the Senate Chief and they decided to put the plenary session on hold to huddle.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, as the senators huddled, it was calm and uneventful but Senate Pres. Tito Sotto could be overheard saying that the mention show of the “noontime show” is hurtful to him. According to the Senate Chief, the noontime show has helped more Filipinos.
Sen. Bato dela Rosa also responded to the remarks of Senate Pres. Tito Sotto. Based on the report, the former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief turned Senator raised the accusations that Sotto is allegedly under House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

According to Dela Rosa, he is hurt over the accusation that Sotto is under Romualdez. Based on the report, the Minority Senator also stressed that if their leadership goes down, they and the institution will follow.
“Yung pinopost nila doon na ginagawa ka na tuta ni Martin, masakit sakin ‘yun sir. If you go down, everybody goes down. The institution goes down,” Dela Rosa said.
Amid the accusations on some senators, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada who is now part of the Minority bloc junked the allegation that he received kickback from the flood control projects.
