Wilbert Ross Reveals His Career Shift
WILBERT ROSS – Actor and singer Wilbert Ross is leaving his daring film days behind, and his reason might just surprise you.
Wilbert Ross, a Viva Artists Agency (VAA) talent, recently confirmed that he is moving away from doing sensual roles. This statement came during a press conference following his contract renewal with VAA.
In 2022, Wilbert starred in s*xy comedies like Boy Bastos and 5 in 1. But today, he’s ready to take a different path. “Yes, I could say yes,” the actor-singer affirmed when asked whether he had stopped doing s*xy roles and was now leaning toward more wholesome ones. “It was like a phase in my life. And now the path that I’m taking is medyo malayo na po dun. So, yun na yun.”
Wilbert Ross shared that the shift was encouraged by his management. “It was their decision na ipatigil because they saw another path for me, which is Viva One, and also for me to focus on music. Sometimes people forget that I’m also a singer. At least man lang maangat yung pagka-singer na image ko po.”
Despite this change, Wilbert is grateful for his Vivamax projects. “If it weren’t for those projects, I wouldn’t have come this far. I also gained confidence in my acting because of those projects. Those were the projects that I had when I was a newbie, but bigla akong ginawang lead. So, parang kailangan kong magsipag. So, parang naka-adapt na po yung katawan ko ngayon.”
He has since starred in several romantic dramas. He will soon reprise his role as Arkin Sanchez in Golden Scenery of Tomorrow, the fifth installment of the University Series, alongside Bea Binene.
Aside from acting, Wilbert is also focused on music. He is set to release a new album by year-end, following LAMPARA, which includes his track with Mika Salamanca titled Handa Ako.
Beyond showbiz, Wilbert enjoys hydroponic gardening and writing. He authored a thriller novel, Pagbilang Kong Tatlo, and is working on a superhero comic.
He also recounted a bizarre moment in his career: “One of the funniest po talaga was when my name was brought up in an issue ng isang pinakasikat na international singer… So, deadma lang. Nakakatawa lang siya. There’s no basis, talaga.”
