Senate Blue Ribbon Committee led by Sen. Rodante Marcoleta To Probe Anomalous Gov’t Flood Control Deals
RODANTE MARCOLETA – The Blue Ribbon Committee will lead the Senate investigation on the alleged anomalous flood control projects of the government.
The country has already spent P545 billion on the flood control deals according to President Bongbong Marcos. “That is a very big number, by any measure that is an enormous number,” — the Chief Executive said upon knowing the expenses of the government on the flood control projects from July 2022 to May 2025 while several areas in the country constantly have flooding problems still.

With PH being prone to tropical storms, there are several areas that experience flooding multiple times in a year. During his 4th State of the Nation Address, Marcos Jr. expressed his frustration over the failed flood control structures in the different areas in the country.

Aside from revealing the spending of the government on the flood control deals, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also exposed that 20% of the P545 billion spending on flood control projects went to the same 15 contractors. They are the following:
- Legacy Construction Corporation
- Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp.
- St. Timothy Construction Corporation
- QM Builders
- EGB Construction Corporation
- Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc.
- Centerways Construction and Development Inc.
- Sunwest, Inc.
- Hi-Tone Construction & Development Corp.
- Triple 8 Construction & Supply, Inc.
- Royal Crown Monarch Construction & Supplies Corp.
- Wawao Builders
- MG Samidan Construction
- L.R. Tiqui Builders, Inc.
- Road Edge Trading & Development Services
Pres. Bongbong Marcos also claimed that five (5) of the aforementioned contractors have flood control deals with the government in almost all regions in the country. According to him, the administration will investigate these firms.
Following the press con of Marcos Jr., Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero confirmed the P30-million campaign donation from one of the flood control project contractors, the Centerways Construction and Development Inc. He denied helping the firm secure government deals and stressed that the owner of Centerways is a long-time friend of his who is also from Sorsogon.

Recently, the Senate confirmed that it will probe the anomalous flood control projects of the government. Based on a report on GMA News, the investigation will be led by the Blue Ribbon Committee which is under the chairmanship of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.

Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Rodante Marcoleta admitted that the investigation on the alleged anomalous flood control deals of the government will be a challenging task. Based on the report, he cited the “enormity of the multi-billion projects, and the complexity of untangling the web of corruption within the public works system”.
Meanwhile, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta assured that the Senate probe on the alleged anomalous flood control projects of the government will not only focus on the contractors. According to the Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman, they will also try to uncover public officials who may getting money through the flood control deals of the government.
“Sabihin n’yo kung magkano binibigay n’yo sa mga taong gobyerno para hindi kayo ang madidikdik d’yan,” the Senator tells the contractors.
Based on the report, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta stressed how the entire community is affected by the destructive flooding due to the substandard flood control projects. Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also called on St. Timothy Construction over the flood control project in Bulacan.
