Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte Claims District Got ‘No Ghost Flood Control Project’
PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao City First District Congressman reacted to the remarks of Manila 6th District Representative Benny Abante over flood control projects.
One of the pressing issues in the Philippines now is the failed flood control projects as well as “ghost” structures in several areas across the nation. Several projects in the province of Bulacan that were supposedly set to solve the problem of flooding there were found with “substandard” materials or, worst, there was no structure at all.

A P55-million ‘ghost’ Riverwall in Bulacan has left Pres. Bongbong Marcos not just disappointed but “angry”. Based on the receipts, the said project was already paid by the government but there was nothing there when the Chief Executive came to visit the place to see the project.

Aside from the said ‘ghost’ Riverwall, Marcos Jr. also called out a flood control project contractor to explain after they found out that the structure was incomplete and made with substandard materials. According to the President, they hired divers to really check on the structure and it was found with a very thin cement.
During a press conference, Pres. Bongbong Marcos flagged 15 contractors that were awarded with 20% of the P545-billion spending of the government for the flood control deals. He also revealed that there were contractors which got projects in almost all regions in the country.

Amid the issue, several Department of Public Works and Highways or DPWH officials in Bulacan were placed under “floating status”. Here are the 15 contractors flagged by Marcos Jr. during the press con:
- Legacy Construction Corporation
- Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp.
- St. Timothy Construction Corporation
- QM Builders
- EGB Construction Corporation
- Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc.
- Centerways Construction and Development Inc.
- Sunwest, Inc.
- Hi-Tone Construction & Development Corp.
- Triple 8 Construction & Supply, Inc.
- Royal Crown Monarch Construction & Supplies Corp.
- Wawao Builders
- MG Samidan Construction
- L.R. Tiqui Builders, Inc.
- Road Edge Trading & Development Services
Amid the issue, Manila 6th District Representative Benny Abante raised a challenge to acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte. He told the youngest son of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to ask his brother, Davao 1st District Cong. Paolo Duterte, about the funds he got during the term of their father for the flood control projects.

Based on a post of News5 on social media, Davao 1st District Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that all the flood control projects in his district during the term of their father were completed. He also claimed that there are allegedly no ‘ghost’ flood control projects in their district.
“Wala namang nagbabagsakan na mga flood control projects dito, wala din mga ghost project dito,” the Congressman said.

Furthermore, based on the post, Davao 1st District Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that if there is flooding in his district, the flood subsides right away. He also made a comparison with the flooding in other areas.
“Kung may baha man dito, humuhupa din agad, hindi kagaya ng mga swimming pool n’yo diyan sa lugar ninyo,” Duterte expressed.
The Davao Congressman is currently in The Hague. In fact, the Duterte family seemingly had a reunion inside the ICC detention facility after all four (4) Duterte siblings visited former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte altogether.
