Details about the Budget Request of Office of Pres. Bongbong Marcos for 2026 Travels Revealed
MARCOS JR. – The Office of the President is asking for a budget of over P1 billion for the local and foreign trips of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Currently, all eyes are on the 2026 national budget which the Congress will deliberate. Malacañang previously aired a request to the Congress not to abuse the “power of the purse” and to make the budget talks available to the public as much as possible.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez filed a resolution seeking for watchdogs during the budget talks of the Congress. Recently, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) submitted the P6.793 trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) to the House of Representatives.

Following the transfer of the NEP, Pres. Bongbong Marcos called on the Congress to swiftly enact the 2026 proposed budget. Marcos Jr. also claimed that the Philippines is poised to be a leader among nations, especially in the Asia Pacific region. He called on the Senate and the House for cooperation for the fulfillment of the Bagong Pilipinas.
”I urge the honorable members of Congress to swiftly enact this budget. Let us work together to realize the full potential of our nation, nurture future-ready generations and fulfill our dream of a Bagong Pilipinas,” the President said.

Based on a report on GMA News, the office of Marcos Jr. is seeking for a total of P27.362 billion budget for 2026. It is higher compared to the P15.9 billion budget of the OP this year. With regards to the budget appropriated for the key departments in the government, according to the President, here are the fund proposals:
- Department of Education (DepEd) — P928.5 billion
- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) — P881.3 billion
- Department of Health (DOH) — P320.5 billion
- Department of National Defense (DND) — P299.3 billion
- Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) — P287.5 billion
- Department of Agriculture (DA) — P239.2 billion
- Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) — P227.0 billion
- Department of Transportation (DOTr) — P197.3 billion
- Judiciary Department — P67.9 billion
- Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) — P55.2 billion
The office of Marcos Jr. seeks a slightly higher budget for the President’s local and foreign trips in 2026 compared to the fund granted for his 2025 travels. Based on the report, the OP seeks P1,018,304,000 for the Chief Executive’s local and foreign travels in 2026.

This year, Marcos Jr. has P982,649,000 budget for his trips. He participated in the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and he also had an official visit to United States Pres. Donald Trump. Furthermore, based on the report, the President also recently visited the Republic of India.
With regards to the so-called secret funds in the 2026 budget proposal, the office of Pres. Bongbong Marcos gets the lion’s share of the Confidential and Intel funds proposed in the 2026 national budget.
