Lara Quigaman Trades Spotlight for Chalkboard in Heartwarming Career Shift
LARA QUIGAMAN – Former Miss International and acclaimed actress Lara Quigaman has turned a childhood dream into reality by becoming a preschool teacher in Canada.
Lara Quigaman has taken on a new and heartwarming role as a preschool teacher in Canada, marking a transformative chapter in her life. Leaving behind the dazzling world of Philippine showbiz, Lara now finds fulfillment in nurturing young minds.
Lara proudly announced on social media that she had completed her Diploma in Early Childhood Education with Distinction from Langara College. She described the milestone as a beautiful result of every sacrifice and challenge we’ve faced and overcome by His grace.

Becoming a teacher had always been a childhood dream for Lara, one that finally materialized after she and her family—husband Marco Alcaraz and their three sons—moved to Vancouver in early 2025. She revealed that their relocation was driven by the desire to grow closer to God and each other, a prayerful decision that eventually opened the doors to her new career path.
In a recent interview with OMNI Television, Lara shared how she unexpectedly discovered the demand for teachers in Canada. “I didn’t know that teachers were in demand,” she admitted. “When we decided what course to take, I just said I really want to be a preschool teacher, I want to be an Early Childhood Educator, so I just pursued my dream.”
Now teaching four preschool classes and working in out-of-school care, Lara faces the daily challenges of meeting the needs of children with diverse abilities. “There are times when the children have different skills, and everything happens at once,” she explained. “Sometimes I want to help them, but I don’t know how, especially with children who are non-verbal and can’t express what they’re feeling.”

Despite the difficulties, Lara describes the experience as a beautiful result of faith and a new purpose. For her, this new role is more than a profession—it’s a calling.
Lara Quigaman, who won Binibining Pilipinas International and Miss International 2005, continues to inspire by showing that even after achieving global success, one can still follow new dreams and find purpose in the most unexpected places.
