Sen. Imee Marcos Speaks on Family Ties amid Support for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator claimed that there is allegedly “no family feud” between her and President Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Even former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte believes that the friendship between Senator Imee and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is “sincere”. Amid the controversial arrest and the transfer of the custody of the elder Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague which earned Pres. Bongbong Marcos criticisms, the Presidential Sister stood by the Dutertes.

Sen. Marcos even left the senatorial slate of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago which was endorsed by her brother, Pres. Marcos. During the rest of the campaign period since she left the grand alliance, the Presidential Sister attended campaign sorties where she was endorsed by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.

After winning the 2025 Midterm Elections, Sen. Imee Marcos also flew to The Hague and met the ICC lawyer of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. According to her, together, they will bring the former President home. Amid the criticisms against PBBM and the government, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the Chief Executive allegedly committed an impeachable offense over her father’s arrest.

For several times, Sen. Marcos claimed that the government now is allegedly ran by an Araneta and a Romualdez and not a Marcos. She’s seemingly referring to her sister-in-law, First Lady Liza Marcos, and her cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

During the 4th SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Sen. Imee Marcos skipped the annual event. Several other Duterte bloc members, senators Robin Padilla, Bong Go, and Bato dela Rosa, also ditched the event like Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
Recently, during the Kapihan sa Senado, Sen. Imee Marcos spoke about the alleged conflict between her and her family members. Based on a post on ABS-CBN News, the Presidential Sister claimed that there is allegedly nothing personal and there is no family feud between her and Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
“Wala namang personal dito… Walang family feud. Ang issue talaga ay politika at prinsipyo na maraming naghihirap sa ating taumbayan,” the Senator said.

However, based on the report, Sen. Imee Marcos joked about dropping the “Romualdez” name. She shares it with House Speaker Martin Romualdez. They are cousins as former First Lady Imelda Marcos and the Speaker’s father, Benjamin “Kokoy” Romualdez, are siblings.
“Duterte bloc ako, diba? Ako ‘yung Marcos na Duterte, hindi ko maintindihan. Marami akong apelido ngayon. Pwera lang Romualdez muna, ha? Nagpa-umanhin na muna ako sa nanay ko,” the Senator claimed.
Previously, during a Philippine Independence Day event in Malaysia, Sen. Robin Padilla claimed that he will be the campaign manager of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos in 2028.
