Reyes, who officially signed a contract with ABS-CBN’s Star Magic on Thursday, August 28, shared her insights on how artists can sustain their careers despite the challenges and changes in the industry. When asked about the secret to her longevity, she emphasized the value of treating everyone with respect, regardless of their role.
“Malaking bagay ang [pagkakaroon] ng magandang attitude sa trabaho at ka-trabaho, ‘yung walang pinipili, ‘yung hindi lang mabait sa kasama na artista, pati sa staff, crew, lahat. Mabuting pakikisama ay napakalaking bagay,” she said.
According to Reyes, while talent and skill are important assets that can set an artist apart, it is ultimately one’s character and the ability to build good relationships that leave a lasting mark.
“Malaking edge ang mahusay at magaling ka. Pero malaking bagay rin kung kumalat na ‘mahirap [kang] katrabaho’ or ‘magaling pero.’ Mas gugustuhin mo na ‘yung magaling at mabait. Masarap katrabaho, word of mouth din ‘yan. Mas maganda pa kung natural ‘yan lumalabas sa’yo kasi gusto mo ang ginagawa mo,” she added.
The seasoned actress highlighted how reputation in the industry is built not only through performances but also through the way an artist treats people behind the scenes. Word-of-mouth, she explained, can either open or close doors for opportunities in showbiz.
