Pres. Bongbong Marcos Personally Visits Baliuag, Bulacan To Check on Riverwall Project
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President admitted his anger over the P55-million ‘ghost’ riverwall project in Baliuag, Bulacan.
In one of his previous podcast interview, Pres. Marcos stressed the importance of really checking on government projects personally and visiting departments under the government. According to him, the reports and records sometimes are very far from the reality, thus, it is important to see it yourself.

Following the flooding in several areas in the Philippines when the Southwest Monsoon and several tropical storms brought heavy rains in the country for several days, the President admitted that some flood control projects of the government failed. According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the government spent P545-billion already for the flood control projects from July 2022 to May 2025.

Marcos Jr. also exposed that 20% of the flood control deals of the government went to 15 contractors. According to him, five of them have secured government deals in almost all regions in the country. He vowed that his administration will investigate it.

Amid the pursuit to solve the problem in several areas in the Philippines about flood, Pres. Bongbong Marcos launched the Sumbong sa Pangulo website wherein the public can send reports. He vowed to read the reports sent by the public personally and one-by-one.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos once again highlighted the importance of the public involvement in the reporting of certain government projects after a ‘ghost’ riverwall project in Baliuag, Bulacan was discovered. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the said project cost P55-million but no structure was built until now.

“Walang ginawa kahit isang araw hindi nagtrabaho. Kahit puntahan niyo, wala kayong makikita na kahit ano. Pero ito ang ginagawa nila talagang nakakapinsala pa sa mga local residents. So yes, I’m not disappointed, I’m angry,” the President said.
Based on the report, the documents from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) stated that the construction of the 220 meter-structure was set to start last February but when Marcos Jr. visited the area, there was no single sign that the work has started.
Worst, based on the report, the documents showed that the P55-million riverwall project in Baliuag, Bulacan is marked “completed” and fully-paid. The DPWH admitted that there were “ghost” flood control deals and they vowed to probe the projects.

Previously, the name of Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero was linked to the issue after her confirmed receiving P30 million from one of the flood control project contractors mentioned by Marcos Jr. but he tagged it as allegedly a “demolition job”.
