Previously, it was revealed that there is a Duterte bloc in the Senate composed of senators Bong Go, Bato dela Rosa, Robin Padilla, Imee Marcos, Rodante Marcoleta, Mark Villar, and Camille Villar. It is no secret to the public that even prior to the Senate discussion of the matter, several Duterte bloc members have already defended the Vice President.

During the Senate session, Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Rodante Marcoleta moved to dismiss the impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto filed a motion to table the motion of Marcoleta citing the motion of reconsideration filed by the House of Representatives and some complainants before the Supreme Court.

According to Sotto, all that they need to do is to wait a little more. He also believes that the Supreme Court allegedly committed “clear and blatant errors” in its ruling citing that the previous impeachment complaints against Duterte were archived.

However, Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto’s motion to table Marcoleta’s motion lost with only five (5) votes. The Senates moved to decide on the motion of Marcoleta which was changed from the dismissal of the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to the archiving of the case.

Nineteen (19) senators including all the Duterte bloc members voted in favor of the motion to archive the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Four (4) senators voted “No” on the motion and one (1) senator abstained from the voting.

Based on the post, Sen. Bong Go also urged his fellow lawmakers in the Senate to move on from the issue so they can fulfill their mandate of forging laws for the benefit of the Filipino people. Undeniably, among the solid allies of the Duterte family in the Senate, Go who was the former special assistance of ex-Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is one of the most quiet over the issue of impeachment against the Vice President.

“Let’s move on, so that we can better fulfill our basic mandate, and this is to forge laws, laws that can help our fellow Filipino people,” he said.

On the day set for the Senate to decide, the spokesperson of the House of Representatives wore a shirt with the word “Forthwith” which was a controversial word in the impeachment issue.
