Marcos Jr. also stressed that the government was able to show to the people that the P20 per kilo rice is achievable without putting the farmers at the losing end. He vowed that it will be made available nationwide. He also assured the Filipinos his administration’s commitment to bettering the educational situation in the country by building more classrooms, digitizing the schools, and provided additional pays to the teachers among others.

However, the President also did not hesitate to mention the failed flood control projects in the Philippines. Several areas in the country recently faced deep flooding amid the wrath of the Southwest Monsoon and typhoons Crising, Dante, and Emong.

Based on a post, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano stressed that he has heard a lot of SONAs in the past but this is allegedly the first time that the president said that the flooding is due to the flood control projects. According to him, then, Chief Executives were boasting about the many projects under their leadership.

“Binabanggit ko nga eh na sa tagal ko sa Congress, sa more than two dozen SONAs, parating pinagyayabang sa midterm yung ah bumabaha ng project. This is the first time na dahil sa project, bumaha, ‘di ba?” he said.

Furthermore, based on the post, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano acknowledged that Pres. Bongbong Marcos were able to mention some accomplishments of the government but he still stressed the failed flood control projects. According to him, these projects allegedly costs hundred of billions of money.

“Usually ang sasabihin sa midterm, ‘Ito na nagawa, ‘yan na nagawa, ganito kadaming kalye, etc.’ So although nabanggit ng konti ‘yun, sinabi talaga na ghost o palpak na project sa flood controls and this is ano ah hundreds of billions. Baka in one term umabot the trillion ‘yan, ‘di ba?” Cayetano said.

Aside from the Senator, previously, Philippine National Police or PNP chief Nicolas Torre III gave the Marcos SONA 2025 “5.5 stars”.
