RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former Philippine President explained his detention under the International Criminal Court to his 12-year-old grandson during a visit at the ICC detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands.

Former Pres. Duterte is detained in The Hague, Netherlands for more than 100 days now. The confirmation of charges against him is set on September 23 and there are still no updates about his interim release bid. The lawyer of Duterte requested for his ICC interim release bid to an undisclosed country. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously spoke about it.

The Vice President cited the age of her father in his ICC interim release bid. According to her, he can be called a “super senior” citizen and he can be better taken cared of if they can hire a nurse or a caregiver for him. His family claimed that he has become so thin to the extend of “skin and bones” now.

According to Vice Pres. Duterte, her father loss his appetite on food which resulted to his massive weight loss. While his thin physique sparks concerns among many people most especially the Duterte supporters, the Vice President prefers the former President in his physique now. She stressed that his previous huge belly looks very unhealthy for his heart.

Currently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is in The Hague for visits to former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Based on a report on PhilStar, she recently recalled the former President’s conversation with her 12-year-old son during a visit. He explained to his grandson that not all people in detention are bad people.

“He said, ‘not all people in detention are bad… I am here because I did things for my country. And I do not regret going after criminals and going after people dealing in illegal drugs for my country,’” Vice Pres. Duterte said referring to former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s message to his grandson.

The 12th batch of evidence against former Pres. Duterte was recently submitted. Previously, the Vice President confirmed that Australia can be the country for the ICC interim release of the former President but her latest visit to the foreign country was not about it.

Recently, a known Duterte ally, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, filed a resolution seeking a house arrest for former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. According to him, denying the former President of time with his family in his twilight years is allegedly an injustice.
