Statement of PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III on Marcos Jr.’s 4th SONA
PNP CHIEF – Philippine National Police chief Police General Nicolas Torre III spoke about the State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2025 of President Bongbong Marcos.
Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. delivered his 4th SONA at the Batasang Pambansa on Monday, July 28. Most of the members of the 20th Congress were present at the event as well as the members of the Marcos Cabinet.

During the Marcos SONA 2025, the President mentioned the accomplishments of the government in the different fields in the past three (3) years of his governance. He stressed that the government is now able to show the people that the P20 per kilo rice is possible without putting the farmers on the losing end.

Marcos Jr. also stressed the increased in the production of many agricultural products including bananas and corn. According to him, the government will also push for the construction of rice processing systems. The President vowed that the government will do more to help the Filipino people including helping the small businessmen by lending them working capitals.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos switched the mood during the delivery of his SONA 2025 when he mentioned PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III in the list of champions in sports calling him the “new champion” in the boxing field. The head of the national police was recently declared as a “winner by default” in a charity boxing match against acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte.

Duterte did not arrive at the boxing match set at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on July 27. The acting Davao Mayor was in Singapore. Prior to it, he issued his own conditions for a charity boxing match with Torre. He wants the PNP Chief to ask Pres. Marcos to order the drug test of all government officials.
Although the boxing match between Torre and Duterte did not push through, the event was reportedly able to gather more than P20 million worth of cash and aid for the victims of the typhoon and flood. The head of PNP previously stressed that he saw the “challenge” of Duterte as an opportunity to help the victims of typhoon and flood.

Recently, PNP Chief Nicolas Torre was asked about his view on the Marcos SONA 2025. He admitted that he likes the message of Pres. Bongbong Marcos which mentioned the fight against corruption most especially when it comes to flood control projects.
“Ako gustong-gusto ko yon, sapagkat talagang dapat maramdaman ng taong bayan na may managot don sa mga nangyaring pagbaha,” the PNP Chief said.
During the SONA 2025, the President praised the 5-minute police response of the PNP in addressing crimes and emergency calls. When asked to rate the annual address of Marcos Jr. with 5 as the highest, PNP Chief Torre gave it 5.5 stars.
Based on a report on Inquirer, prior to the SONA 2025, the trust and performance ratings of Pres. Bongbong Marcos increased. The OCTA Research survey result a four-point increase in the trust ratings of the Chief Executive from 60% to 64%. His performance rating rose by three (3) points to 62%.
Previously, prior to the SONA, during a press briefing, PNP Chief Nicolas Torre reacted to acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte calling him “monkey”.
