Malacañang on Torre-Duterte Boxing Match: “Kung matuloy man, eh goodluck”

Press Officer of Malacañang Speaks on Possible Torre-Duterte Boxing Match

Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro was asked of the side of the Palace on the possible boxing match between Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte and Philippine National Police chief Police General Nicolas Torre III.

PNP chief Nicolas Torre III previously said there is “nothing personal” on his part in accepting the challenge of Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte to a “fistfight”. According to him, he just sees his challenge as an opportunity to raise funds and help the victims of flood and typhoon in the country.

Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte, in one of his podcast, claimed that Torre is allegedly brave when he is in the position but he can allegedly take him down in a “fistfight”. According to the PNP Chief, they can have a “charity boxing match” on Sunday.

Torre proposed a 12-round boxing match. According to him, it would be better if there is a sponsor every round so they can raise a huge amount of funds for the victims of the typhoon and flood. He pledged that his share will all be donated to the typhoon and flood victims.

The PNP chief has started his training for the possible boxing match against the youngest son of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Davao acting Mayor Baste Duterte was one of those who criticized PNP chief Nicolas Torre III’s appointment in the national police. According to him, it is allegedly based on favor.

Back then when he was the chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), PNP chief Nicolas Torre III played a huge role in the arrest and the transfer of custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the International Criminal Court. The former Chief Executive is detained under the custody of the ICC since March.

Amid the criticisms, Malacañang previously insisted that Pres. Bongbong Marcos did not commit betrayal over Duterte’s arrest. Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that the government only did its job.

Based on a reel posted by the ABS-CBN News, Palace press officer Usec. Claire T. Castro confirmed that she knew about the possible Torre-Duterte boxing match.

Castro was laughing during the interview. According to the Malacañang press official, she does not know if the Torre-Duterte boxing match will push through.

“Oo nakita namin. Hindi ko alam kung matutuloy… Kung matuloy man, eh good luck,” the Malacañang official said based on the post.

Recently, the elder brother of Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte, Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte, also reacted to Mayor Baste Duterte’s possible boxing match with PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III.
