Senators Robin Padilla, Imee Marcos Get 3 Senate Committee Chairmanships

IMEE MARCOS, ROBIN PADILLA – The Duterte bloc members are among the senators who will lead multiple Senate committees in the 20th Congress.

The 20th Congress has officially started. Prior to it, the senators and the members of the House of Representatives elected the Senate President and the House Speaker for the 20th Congress. Both leaderships managed to remain in their positions. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero remains in the Senate presidency after getting 19 votes.

Returning Sen. Tito Sotto got five (5) votes during the election for the Senate Presidency. He will be the Senate Minority Leader in the 20th Congress. Sotto is also a former Senate President who led the chamber during the 18th Congress.

The Duterte bloc which is composed of senators Bong Go, Bato dela Rosa, Imee Marcos, Robin Padilla, Rodante Marcoleta, and the Villar siblings supported Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero. Known opposition senators Kiko Pangilinan and Bam Aquino also joined the Senate majority.

The Senate also recently released the list Senate committees which already have chairpersons. Based on the list, there are senators who got multiple Senate committee chairmanships and among them are Duterte bloc senators Imee Marcos and Robin Padilla.

Sen. Imee Marcos got the chairmanships of the Cooperatives Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, and the Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development Committee in the 20th Congress. Sen. Robin Padilla will lead the Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Codes Committee, the Cultural Communities and Muslim Affairs Committee, and the Public Information and Mass Media Committee
