From Rock Star to Full-Time Mom: Why Kitchie Nadal Moved to Spain

Kitchie Nadal Opens Up About Her Life-Changing Move to Spain

KITCHIE NADAL – OPM rock icon Kitchie Nadal has finally opened up about the life-altering decision that led her to leave the limelight and start fresh in Spain.

Kitchie Nadal recently opened up about her decision to move to Spain during an interview on Monday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.” The celebrated singer shared her heartfelt reasons behind the life-changing move she made in 2017—leaving the limelight to pursue love and focus on building a family.

In the interview, Kitchie candidly explained that her relocation to Madrid was driven by her desire to start a new chapter with her Spanish husband, Carlos Lopez, whom she met during volunteer work in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda.

“Love. Of course, love,” Kitchie said. “I married a Spanish guy. Nagkakilala kami during Yolanda. We were both volunteers. And then ‘yon, ang bilis na-develop.”

Their relationship flourished quickly, eventually leading to marriage and parenthood.

“He decided to stay and then we got to know each other more. And we got married. We had a baby. When we had a baby, we decided to move to Spain,” she shared.

Since then, Kitchie has embraced a quieter, more grounded lifestyle in Madrid, one centered on family.

“I’m really happy. Kasi iba ang lifestyle doon eh. I was able to focus on my family, hands-on with the kids like everyone. Ang dami kong natutunan doon—house chores, lahat, multi-tasking,” she said. “I really love how I was able to focus on them.”

Although she stepped away from mainstream performances, Kitchie stayed musically active by performing in small, intimate gatherings for the Filipino communities in Spain.

“Syempre mas maliit siya, but for me fun nga siya kasi parang ang ìntìmate. And then parang feeling ko ang meaningful ng dating kasi you get to unite the Filipinos there,” she said.
