Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s Camp Speaks on ICC Case, Process
DUTERTE’S CAMP – The camp of the former President confirmed their plan to request to the International Criminal Court the suspension of the ICC hearing scheduled on September 23.
Prior to the call of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte for the ICC to drop the case against former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the legal team of the former Chief Executive asked the foreign court to hold off on deciding over the interim release plea of their client. According to his lawyers, they still await some documents and information that will back their request.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously claimed that not all of the needs of her 80-year-old father can be provided inside the ICC detention facility. According to her, the former President who can be called a “super senior” citizen can be taken cared of better if they would hire a nurse or a caregiver for him.

Several members of the Duterte family claimed that the former President is allegedly “skin and bones” now. According to his ex-wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman, the former Chief Executive loss his appetite on food and spends most of his time sleeping and watching television.
Zimmerman also claimed that the former President does not exercise and still reads books but not as much as he did before. Vice Pres. Duterte and Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte confirmed the slim physique of their father now.

However, according to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, she prefers the slim physique of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte now as his previous physique with a huge belly looked unhealthy for his heart. Duterte’s camp take turns in visiting him inside the ICC detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands.
Based on a report on PhilStar, aside from requesting the ICC to hold off on deciding over the interim release bid of the former President, Duterte’s camp also plans to ask the court to suspend the September 23 hearing. The date was set as the schedule for the confirmation of charges.

In the confirmation of charges, if it will be determined that there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial and the charges are confirmed, the case will be transferred to a trial chamber. However, based on the report, Duterte’s camp claimed that there are allegedly delays in accessing various information about the case against the former Chief Executive, thus, they want to suspend the upcoming hearing.
Amid the issues surrounding the controversial turn of events last March 11, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the ICC and the Marcos administration allegedly used each other to make gains over the arrest of her father. She claimed that the Marcos admin allegedly wants her father away from the country as he was the “foremost staunch critic” of the admin prior to his arrest.
