Davao Mayor Baste Duterte Lays “Own Conditions” for Boxing Match vs. PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III

BASTE DUTERTE – The acting Mayor of Davao City reacted to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Nicolas Torre III accepting his challenge to a “fistfight”.

PNP chief Police Gen. Nicolas Torre III agreed to the challenge of Davao acting Mayor Duterte to a “fistfight”. According to him, they can have a “charity boxing match” with all the proceeds to be donated to the victims of the typhoon and flood. He previously proposed to have it at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

When asked why he is accepting the challenge of the son of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, PNP chief Nicolas Torre claimed that there is “nothing personal” on his part for accepting Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte’s challenge. According to him, he just sees it as an opportunity to be able to help the typhoon and flood victims amid the wrath of the bad weather conditions in the country.

The PNP Chief also claimed that it is not a big deal for him if there is not much time for them to practice nor if Davao acting Mayor Duterte has already practiced for the match. According to him, a charity boxing match won’t hurt a lot. He wants a 12-round match against the Davao City’s acting Mayor.

Torre also proposed to have sponsors for each round so they would be able a huge amount of money to be donated to the flood and typhoon victims. According to him, a boxing match is easier to setup, thus, they can have it.

Recently, Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte reacted to PNP chief Nicolas Torre accepting his challenge for a “fistfight”. Based on a post on social media, he laid his own conditions for a charity boxing match with Torre. The PNP Chief has played a huge role in the arrest and the transfer of the custody of his father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.

“Huwag kang mag-alala Torre kasi matagal ko na talagang gusto maka-bugbog ng unggoy. Kung gusto mo lang talaga ng suntukan, bakit kailangan mo pa ng charity charity. Why do you need, kailang mo pang gamitin yang nangyayari ngayon na baha diyan sa Metro Manila,” the Davao City acting Mayor said.

According to Mayor Baste Duterte, if PNP chief Nicolas Torre is really serious about the charity boxing match, he should ask Pres. Bongbong Marcos to order all the officials of the government to undergo a drug test. Based on the post, it is the condition of the Davao City acting Mayor for their charity boxing match to push through.

“These are my conditions. Pakiusapan mo ‘yang amo mo na presidente and let it come out of his mouth that all elected officials should undergo a hair follicle drug test. Papalagan ko ‘yang charity-charity mo na ‘yan. Walang problema. If it will answer the issues nitong bansa natin, I can do that,” Duterte said.

Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte is one of those who criticized Nicolas Torre’s appointment as PNP chief. He won the vice mayoralty race in Davao City in the 2025 Midterm Elections but his father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, who won the election for mayor, was yet to take his oath, thus, he is currently the acting mayor of the city.
