Businessman Atong Ang Accused as Mastermind in Disappearance of 34 Sabungeros

ATONG ANG – The businessman allegedly paid up to P2 million to some policemen for the killing of the sabungeros according to the whistleblower.

Countless Filipinos were shocked and saddened when a whistleblower claimed that the bodies of more than 100 sabungeros were allegedly thrown at Taal Lake. According to alias “Totoy”, these cockfight enthusiasts also allegedly met a devastating fate before they were thrown at the lake.

Filipino-Chinese businessman Atong Ang and former actress Gretchen Barretto were allegedly involved in the case of the missing sabungeros. The businessman was quick to deny the allegations and claimed that his accuser is allegedly after extorting some money from him.

Atong also claimed that he will file charges against his accuser. According to him, he is in a very pitiful side for being accused as the mastermind behind the disappearance of 34 cockfight enthusiasts. The businessman is known as the man behind the e-sabong business.

However, another whistleblower, Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, recently appeared for an interview with GMA-7 reporter Emil Sumangil to air his side of the story. Based on a report on GMA News, alias “Dondon” claimed that Atong Ang allegedly paid up to P2 million for the killing of the sabungeros.

Julie Patidongan was reportedly a former security chief in some of the cockfight arenas of Atong Ang. According to him, he was the one who relay orders from the Filipino-Chinese businessman, to the uniformed personnel. He also turned over to the authorities the petty cash voucher copies for the police officers.

Based on the report, the highest amount paid to a police unit that allegedly did the work was P2.6 million. According to alias “Dondon”, for the intel, there is a payment of Php 500,000 for doing the job.

“Yung overall naman na kinukuha ng isang colonel, ang monthly niya ay P2 million,” he added.

The whistleblower promised to keep his statements until the trial over the case of the missing cockfight enthusiasts. Earlier, the Department of Justice or DOJ claimed that they will not stop with regards to the case of the missing sabungeros. Justice Secretary Boying Remulla said 15 police officers are now under “restricted duty” for the killing of the sabungeros.

Aside from Atong Ang, former actress Gretchen Barretto also denied her alleged involvement in the disappearance of the cockfight enthusiasts. However, alias “Dondon” claimed that Gretchen Barretto allegedly agreed to the proposal over the cheating sabungeros. He called on the former actress to speak up and have conscience for the victims.
