During the campaign period, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy vowed to fix the Philippines. He was one of the senatorial bets of the PDP-Laban, the political party of his very dear friend, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands due to his drug war.

Prior to his arrest, Duterte was reportedly in-charge of the assets of the Pastor. He was one of the spiritual counsels of the former President during his term as the country’s chief executive but their friendship dates back even when the former President was still mayor of Davao City.

Amid his detention in Pasig City jail, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy requested the court to allow him to post bail. However, based on a report on Inquirer, the Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 159 junked the appeal of the founder and leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).

Based on the report, the decision was penned and signed by Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 159 acting presiding Judge Rainelda Estacio-Montesa. The court found strong evidence against the Pastor.

“At this juncture, the prosecution has sufficiently shown that the evidence of guilt against all the accused is strong,” the judge penned.

The 23-page order of the Pasig Court is dated July 20. It also junked the appeal for bail of the co-accused of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy who are as follows:

  • Jackielyn Roy
  • Cresente Canada
  • Paulene Canada
  • Ingrid Canada
  • Sylvia Cemanes

Based on the report, the Court also stated in its decision that the “prosecution has shown, at this time, that the private complainant was recruited through deception and false promises”. The complainant was allegedly promised allowances, free education, overseas travels, and the opportunity to appear on television under the order to serve in a religious organization.

The Pastor ranked 31st in the final results of the 2025 Senatorial Elections with 5,719,041 votes. After the outcome was out, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy requested for a manual recount of the senatorial votes in the 2025 Elections.
