ALAN PETER CAYETANO – The Senator filed a resolution calling for a house arrest for former President Rodrigo Duterte so he can spend time with his family.

Countless supporters of the Duterte family were recently alarmed about the claims that former Pres. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who prefers the slim physique of her father now, the former President’s weight loss is due to his loss of appetite. While his weight loss sparked concerns among many people, the Vice President claimed she prefers it than his previous physique with a huge belly.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the previous huge belly of the former President looks unhealthy for his heart. According to her, the public may have yet to see her father as thin as he is now. Amid the concerns of many Duterte supports, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano filed a resolution calling for a house arrest for the former President.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano is known as one of the Duterte allies in the Senate. He was the running mate of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte in the 2016 Elections but he lost to former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo. He was appointed by Duterte as the secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Based on a report on PhilStar, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano filed a resolution urging the Philippine government to call on the International Criminal Court to approve the ICC interim release bid of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He also sought for the house arrest of the former President at the Philippine Embassy in The Hague.

According to Cayetano, Duterte should “be afforded the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty”. The Senator cited the former President’s old age, deteriorating health, and prolonged social isolation. The former Chief Executive is currently 80 years old.

Based on the report, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano appealed to the Philippine government to give former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte courtesy as a former national leader. He believes that denying the former President time with his family in his twilight years is allegedly an injustice.

“The least the Philippines could do for its former leader is to advocate for his release and make the necessary arrangements to accommodate him,” he stated.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed the last wish of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte if he dies during his ICC detention in Netherlands.
