Manny Pacquiao’s Comeback Begins Now
MANNY PACQUIAO – Legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao has officially stepped away from politics to reignite his boxing career at age 46.
Manny Pacquiao, one of boxing’s most iconic figures, has officially stepped away from the political arena to focus once again on his first love — boxing. After years of juggling public service and professional fighting, the Filipino legend is making a full return to the sport at 46 years old.
“Right now, the book of politics is closed,” Pacman told The Associated Press on Tuesday in Los Angeles. “It’s not even in my mind. I’m focusing on my career as a boxer again.”

His much-anticipated comeback will happen on July 19 in Las Vegas, where he’ll face WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios. It will be Pacquiao’s first bout since 2021 and a chance to become the oldest welterweight champion in history, further solidifying his legacy in the sport.
A former eight-division world champion, Pacquiao’s career was briefly paused while he pursued a life in public office. He served as a senator from 2016 to 2022 and even ran for president of the Philippines, finishing third. Most recently, he attempted to return to the Senate in the 2025 midterm elections but placed 18th. That loss prompted him to officially return to boxing — this time with no political distractions.
“I can still do my job in boxing,” Pacquiao said. “I’m not done yet. The fire, the determination, the eagerness to train and work hard, it’s still there. It’s amazing.”

Now training in Los Angeles with long-time coach Freddie Roach, Pacquiao is visibly energized and excited. He missed the sport deeply and is once again enjoying the grind — from daily workouts to media engagements.
After a four-year hiatus, Pacquiao isn’t just coming back for a farewell fight — he’s returning to stay. And with the same passion and drive that made him a global icon, he’s set on proving that his boxing story is far from over.
