Bongbong Marcos Vows To Be “Very Strict” in Assessing Gov’t Officials’ Performance

Pres. Bongbong Marcos Values Service To People More than Friendship

BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President vowed to be “very strict” with regards to assessing the performance of government officials.

Following the 2025 Midterm Elections, Pres. Marcos surprisingly ordered his Cabinet secretaries to make a courtesy resignation. According to Malacañang, Marcos’ resignation call among his Cabinet secretaries is not only for a revamp of the administration but a chance for the government officials to prove their role in the admin.

Several secretaries in the Marcos cabinet immediately tendered their courtesy resignation. Many of them even expressed their trust on the decision of the Chief Executive. The Palace vowed that the President will act swiftly on the courtesy resignations and assured that the move will not affect the services of the government.

Malacañang stressed that lazy and corrupt government officials have no place in the Marcos admin. However, amid the move, there were calls for Pres. Bongbong Marcos to be the one to resign instead — which he turned down. The Chief Executive stressed that it is not in his nature to run away from problems.

The order of the President for a courtesy resignation among his Cabinet secretaries is in line with his pursuit to align the government with the demands of the Filipino people. The Chief Executive believes that the result of the 2025 Midterm Elections show that the people are tired of politics and disappointed over the services of the government.

Recently, a teaser of the second episode of the podcast of Pres. Bongbong Marcos was shared. Based on a report on PhilStar, in the said teaser, the Chief Executive promised that he will be “very strict” in assessing the performance of the government officials.

“And that’s what we should do. We have to be very, very strict,” he said.

Marcos Jr. also stressed that in the military, those people who fail to perform are relieved from their positions. Also, based on the report, the President made it clear that the service to the people is more valuable to him than friendship in case a friend of his fails to do his/her job.

“Look, even if you are my friend, I love you and all, but if you are not doing your job, it is not about friendship or our love for each other, but the service for the people,” Marcos Jr. said.

Previously, amid the doubts of the continuity of the campaign promise of the President for an affordable rice, Pres. Bongbong Marcos expressed his confidence on the continuity of the P20 per kilo rice program. According to him, the government has found a way to do it.

Amid the conflict between her and the President, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously confirmed that the P20 per kilo rice is “doable” but refused to share her knowledge with Marcos Jr. Her remarks gained different reactions from the Filipino people as well as the Malacañang.
