Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Government’s New Anti-Drugs Campaign Concept
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President confirmed that the government will continue the war on drugs but in a “peaceful way”.
The previous administration is undeniably most popular for its war on drugs. Since he assumed office, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has always been vocal about his pursuit to solve the drug problem of the country. However, along the way, he admitted that he miscalculated the extent of the drug problem which he was unable to solve based on his “6 months” promise.

The Duterte drug war was met with different reactions. It is surrounded by allegations and is linked to several deaths of individuals suspected to be involved in drugs. Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently detained under the ICC or the International Criminal Court for more than 100 days now over the alleged crimes against humanity for his administration’s war on drugs.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos confirmed that his administration continues the drug war but in a different manner. The Chief Executive wants the campaign against illegal drugs to be done in a “peaceful way”.

Based on a post of GMA News on social media, Pres. Bongbong Marcos described his administration’s campaign against illegal drugs as a “bloodless war”. He stressed that the government will now handle the drug problem in a way that suspects are not eradicated.

“Nonetheless, despite the fact that we do not kill people that are just suspected of having anything to do with drugs, imbes na ganun ang gawin natin, we are handling the drug problem in a different way,” Marcos said.
According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the government will strengthen the drug prevention in the country as well as the rehabilitation for those who will be involved. The President also stressed the continuous implementation of the laws against illegal drugs.
“Mas pinapatibay natin ang ating prevention. Tapos mas pinapatibay natin ang ating rehabilitasyon. ‘Pag nasabit na sa droga ang tao, tinutulungan natin na bitawan niya ‘yang bisyo na iyan. And the of course, continuous enforcement all the drug laws,” Marcos Jr. said.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos said the authorities will not only go after the big ones when it comes to drug the problem in the country but as well as the small drug problems in the streets. Based on the post, the President also mandated boosting police visibility so the people will feel safe.
According to the President, the government will continue the new concept of the way against drugs. He stressed that it is working and the “good effects” of the policy are beginning to be seen.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos is accused of “betrayal” over Duterte’s arrest following the reported issuance of an arrest warrant by the ICC. According to the Chief Executive, the government only acted on the arrest of his predecessor due to its commitment with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
The former President maintained that everything he did when he was the country’s leader was for the Filipino people and the Philippines. Recently, the lawyers of Duterte requested the ICC for his interim release.
