John Rendez Reflects on Loss & Feeling Unwelcome at Nora Aunor’s Wake
JOHN RENDEZ – Actor John Rendez opened up about the emotional pain of losing Nora Aunor, revealing that he didn’t feel welcome at her wake and funeral.
In a heartfelt interview with veteran journalist Julius Babao, singer and longtime friend John Rendez shared his emotional experience following the death of National Artist and Superstar Nora Aunor. While reminiscing about their last moments together, John revealed that he did not feel welcome during her wake and funeral, a sentiment that added to the pain of losing someone he considered not just a friend, but a major figure in his personal journey.
John recounted being by Nora’s side at the hospital during her final moments. “I remember holding her hand, thinking, ‘This will be okay,’ and she was crying. I was singing to her,” he recalled. He also mentioned the presence of singer Imelda Papin and some of Nora’s children during those last hours. “They were singing ‘Praise the Lord,’ and then she was gone.”

The singer admitted to being shocked by Nora’s sudden passing, especially after the angioplasty that they initially believed would go well. Despite the grief and feelings of being excluded during the funeral, John chose to focus on healing and strengthening his relationship with God.
“I’m moving on. I’m trying to stay positive. Dealing with the loss of someone you love is never easy,” he said.

John Rendez was a close companion to Nora Aunor for many years, often seen by her side during her quieter moments in showbiz. His unwavering support reflected their deep bond, which makes the sense of being sidelined at her final farewell all the more painful.
Meanwhile, Nora’s son, Ian de Leon, addressed concerns regarding the late actress’s estate. He assured the public that they are handling the legal matters properly and that there is no intention of conflict among the family. According to Ian, their goal is to preserve and honor the legacy left behind by the beloved Superstar.
Despite the emotional wounds, John is choosing to remember Nora Aunor with love and gratitude, holding on to faith as he finds a new direction in life.
