Sen. Imee Marcos Makes It to Top 12 of 2025 Senatorial Election Results
IMEE MARCOS – The presidential sister and re-elected Senator claimed that some of her fellow senators want her to be the Senate president.
Sen. Marcos was one of the elected senators proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) a week ago. Following the poll, her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, extended his hand to the election winners regardless of their “colors”.

In the first weeks of the 2025 Elections campaign period, Sen. Marcos was part of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago senatorial slate. Pres. Bongbong Marcos led the endorsement of the senatorial slate of the grand alliance. However, in the midst of the campaign period, the Senator left the slate.

Sen. Imee Marcos left the senatorial slate of the PBBM-led Alyansa following the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. According to her, she cannot accept what was done to Duterte and the actions of the government do not match her ideals and principles in life. She stressed that she would just join her friends who are local candidates in their campaign sorties.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who previously expressed her gratitude to Sen. Marcos for opening a Senate inquiry on former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest campaigned for the presidential sister. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte even convinced the voters saying that Senator Imee is different from PBBM. According to her, she thinks for solutions to the problems.
In the results of the 2025 Senatorial Election, Sen. Imee Marcos hit the 12th rank with 13,339,227 votes. During the Proclamation Ceremony, she was accompanied by her mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and her sons and in-laws.
Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos claimed that there are some of her fellow senators who want her to be the next Senate president. Based on a report on GMA News, the reelected Senator did not reveal her response to the “proposal”.
“Some senators have approached me with the proposal to be their candidate for Senate President,” she said.
Sen. Marcos further expressed that whoever will be elected by the senators as the chief of the upper chamber, whether it is her or not, there must be congressional reforms especially in the budgetary process. Based on the report, she called to stop the “magical” bicameral sessions.
In her Proclamation Speech, Sen. Imee Marcos mentioned former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte but not Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She wore her late father’s barong.
