Update on Former Negros Oriental Cong. Arnie Teves Following Arrest in Timor-Leste
ARNIE TEVES – The former Negros Oriental Congressman reportedly boarded a plane back to the Philippines from Timor-Leste.
Former Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves who is the principal suspect in the death of the late former Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo was recently arrested in Timor-Leste. He was in the Southeast Asian nation for more than a year now amid the calls for him to return to the country.

Arnolfo Teves was arrested in his residence in Dili, Timor Leste. His son, Axl Teves, shared on social media that his father was suddenly arrested by the immigration officers at his house in Timor-Leste.

According to Axl, the immigration officers who arrested his father allegedly had no documents pertaining to the arrest nor an arrest warrant against the former Negros Oriental Congressman. He claimed that the Timor-Leste court has even ruled in their favor.
Teves was reportedly arrested due to not having a valid Visa as well as a legal authorization to remain in the country. The Timor-Leste government ordered Teves to be immediately deported. His camp filed for a petition for a writ of habeas corpus which challenged his detention and it was granted.

Based on a report on Inquirer, former Negros Oriental Cong. Arnie Teves has boarded the plane back to the Philippines following his arrest in Timor-Leste. He boarded the Philippine Air Force plane shortly after 1:00 p.m. citing a live telecast by the Timorese news outlet SMNews.
The Department of Justice previously said it has mobilized a team to facilitate the return of Arnie Teves. He is faced with several charges in the country. The widow of the late former Gov. Roel Degamo has reacted to the arrest of Arnie Teves in Timor-Leste.
