Sen. Imee Marcos Reveals Receiving Letter from ES Lucas Bersamin
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator is saddened by the decision of the cabinet officials to skip the Day 2 of the Senate inquiry on the arrest of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Countless Filipinos are currently confused about the relationship between Sen. Marcos and her brother, President Bongbong Marcos. They visibly have different stands with regards to the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The arrest of former Pres. Duterte earned Marcos Jr. betrayal accusations. Many people believe that the Chief Executive had the power to stop the arrest of his predecessor but he did not. Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that all legal procedures were followed in Duterte’s arrest.

Malacañang also defended Marcos Jr. from accusations that he betrayed the Filipino people and the country. According to the Palace, the government only performed its job and did not betray anyone. The senators have different reactions on Duterte’s arrest. Presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos was shocked.

According to Senator Imee, she could not accept what was done to Duterte, thus, she skipped the campaign rally of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago in Tacloban to think about the ways to enlighten the people about what happened. She also ditched the campaign rally of the alliance in Cavite.
Sen. Imee Marcos led the Senate committee inquiry on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Following the first day of the investigation which was attended by several officials of the government, the Senator claimed that there seems to be no due process on the arrest of the former President.

Recently, Sen. Marcos revealed that she received a letter from executive secretary Lucas Bersamin invoking their executive privilege and informing the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations that the Cabinet officials will not attend the Day 2 of the inquiry.
“Nakakalungkot naman kasi alam ninyo maraming tanong pa rin. Bitin pa rin kasi preliminary report lang naman ang kinaya ko,” the Senator said.
Based on a report on PhilStar, Sen. Imee Marcos stressed that the second day of the investigation on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte can actually be an “opportunity for them to explain to the people what really happened”.
According to the Senator, the cabinet officials skipping the probe will allegedly make people think that they are hiding something. In his letter, Bersamin stressed their belief that all the matters that are not covered by their executive privilege have already been talked about in the previous inquiry.
“This is an opportunity for them to explain to the people what really happened. By not attending, it will make people speculate that they are hiding something,” Marcos said.
Sen. Imee Marcos left the Alyansa led by Pres. Bongbong Marcos after the first Senate inquiry on Duterte’s arrest. She stressed the mismatch in the government’s latest moves and her ideals and principles in life.
