BONGBONG MARCOS – On the 83rd anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan, the Philippine President called on Filipinos for genuine acts of service.

There are several regular holidays in the Philippines every year. One of those that remain a regular holiday not only for years but decades now is the Araw ng Kagitingan which is celebrated every 9th of April. Today marks the 83 year of celebrating the heroism of the Filipino heroes who defended Bataan.

The celebration of the Araw ng Kagitingan is one of the five (5) holidays in April 2025 as approved by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. It gives countless Filipinos the chance to participate in the programs and other events related to the celebration of the Day of Valor.

This year, Pres. Bongbong Marcos led the ceremony for the laying of the wreath at the Dambana ng Kagitingan in Mount Samat National Shrine in Pilar, Bataan. Based on a report on GMA News, at the wreath-laying ceremony, the Chief Executive called on the Filipinos to emulate the examples set by the heroes who defended Bataan.

Thousands of Filipinos offered their lives for the liberty of the Philippines during the World War II. The Araw ng Kagitingan commemorates the Fall of Bataan on April 9, 1942. According to Pres. Marcos, the modern Filipinos can follow the example set by the heroes through advancing the causes that boost the lives of our fellow Filipinos.

The Philippine President emphasized that valor is not only about strength in the face of challenges. According to him, it is also about the small acts of generosity, kindness, and compassion. He stressed that kindness can come a long way in bringing positive changes in our communities.

“Through acts of genuine service and self-offering to the nation, we can prove that we are not only made of the same noble stock as our noteworthy ancestors but also the rightful heirs of their heroic legacy and the faithful successors of their struggle to build a strong, secure, and prosperous Bagong Pilipinas,” the President said.

Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also expressed that the story of the heroism of the people who offered their lives for the freedom of the country during the Fall of Bataan continue to be an inspiration to many Filipinos in the pursuit of protecting the country and building a nation worthy of the sacrifice of our ancestors.

Currently, the Philippines is faced with a lot of challenges including the political turmoil caused by the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands. Malacañang believes that Duterte’s lawyer will be challenged in defending his “admissions”.
