Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte Spoke with PH Embassy in The Netherlands
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President of the Philippines has called the PH Embassy in The Hague and informed he underwent medical check-up.
Former Pres. Duterte was unexpectedly arrested in Manila on Monday, March 11. The International Criminal Court has reportedly issued a warrant of arrest against him over the accusations regarding his war on drugs. On the same day, he was flown out from the country to Dubai where he will have a lay over before his flight to the Netherlands.

Before landing in The Hague, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has given a message to the Filipinos telling them not to worry as he is OK. According to the former Chief Executive of the Philippines, he will take responsibility over the actions of the military and the police during his term.

On Thursday night, countless Filipinos were alarmed when former executive secretary Atty. Salvador Medialdea claimed that the staff at the Hague Penitentiary Institution said that there was no Duterte that was detained there in the facility. Duterte was with Medialdea, a nurse, and his special assistant before his custody was transferred to the ICC.

Meanwhile, ICC spokesperson Fadi El Abdallah said former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was at the ICC detention center in Scheveningen. Based on a post on the official Facebook page of the PH Embassy in The Hague, former Pres. Duterte spoke to a consular officer.
It was a International Criminal Court (ICC) Detention Officer who called the PH Embassy in The Hague at 10:41 p.m. Manila time to inform them about the intent of former Pres. Duterte to speak with a consular officer.
“During the call, the former President conveyed, among others, that he underwent medical check-up and has received medical care and that he is generally fine,” the PH Embassy statement reads.
According to the post of the Embassy, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was also able to talk to former executive secretary Salvador Medialdea. The ICC previously said that the former Philippine President underwent medical checks as part of the standard practices of the Court to ensure the health and well-being of the suspect transferred to their custody.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is set to make an initial appearance before the ICC today, March 14.
