Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte Gives Message to Filipinos Before Landing in The Hague

RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President of the Philippines gave a message to the Filipinos before they landed in The Hague.

The recent arrest of former Pres. Duterte has gathered countless different reactions from the Filipinos. The former Chief Executive was arrested by the officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport upon his arrival from Hong Kong.

Former Pres. Duterte was detained for several hours under the custody of the PNP. He was with his common-law wife, Honeylet Avanceña, and their daughter, Kitty Duterte, while he waited for the next steps following his arrest at the airport.

Senator Bong Go arrived at NAIA before the arrival of the flight of the former President from Hong Kong. He also came to where Duterte was detained. The doctor of the former President was also there and Sen. Go stressed that Duterte has several illnesses already at the age of 79.

Kitty Duterte claimed that it was “illegal detention” as there was allegedly no warrant of arrest against her father. She also claimed that her father was denied of the proper medical care that he needs. On the same day, the former President was flow to Dubai en route to the Netherlands.

Recently, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave a message for the Filipino people before they landed in The Hague. Through a video posted on the Rody Duterte Facebook page, the former Chief Executive assured his countrymen that he is okay and there is nothing they must worry about.

“To my countrymen, just to give you the current situation, I am about to land in The Hague. Galing ako Dubai, stopover… It’s a long haul, it’s a long flight. OK ako. Do not worry,” Duterte said.

The former President further said that his arrest may have something to do with the law and order during his term. He reiterated that he told the police and the military to just do their job and he will be responsible for their actions.

“Sinasabi ko naman sa mga pulis, military na trabaho kayo at ako ang managot. So ito na nga… Sinabi ko na, I will protect you and I will, ako ang managot sa lahat,” he said.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte said it might be a long legal process but he will continue to serve the Philippines. Through the video, the former Chief Executive expressed acceptance if it is his fate.

“This will be a long legal proceeding but I say to you I will continue to serve my country at so be it, kung ganoon ang destiny ko. Salamat,” FPRRD said.

Following the arrest of the former President, Malacañang reacted to claims that the case of Duterte is a case of the government surrendering a Filipino.
