Sen. Bato dela Rosa Claims PNP Security Details in Davao Recalled

Sen. Bato dela Rosa is one of the incumbent officials in the Senate who are seeking a reelection this May 2025 poll. He is one of the senatorial bets of the PDP-Laban which is led by former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte as the chairman and Sen. Robin Padilla as its president.

The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte caused a huge faction among the Filipino populace. The supporters of the Dutertes and Marcoses who combined in 2022 also divided. Sen. Bato dela Rosa tagged the arrest of former Pres. Duterte as a “betrayal” of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

According to Sen. dela Rosa, Marcos Jr. allegedly did not stand by his words and betrayed the Filipino people and the country when the government acted on the arrest of Duterte. The “law enforcement operation” was executed by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Marcos Jr. previously said that all necessary procedures were followed in the arrest of Duterte. According to him, the government acted on the implementation of the arrest of the former Chief Executive because of its commitment with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

There are speculations that the ICC may release more arrest warrants which may include the order on Sen. Bato dela Rosa. He was the PNP chief during the implementation of the war on drugs of the Duterte administration.

Dela Rosa had a change of stance over the ICC arrest which he described as his strategy. Contrary to his previous stand that he is ready to join Duterte in The Hague if all legal remedies fail, the Senator claimed that hiding is an option for him now in case the international court issues an arrest warrant against him.

Sen. Bato dela Rosa recently claimed that his PNP security details were recalled. According to him, he only knew that the security details assigned to him were recalled when he went home to Davao City from going around the country for the campaign rallies.
