7.7 Magnitude Myanmar Earthquake Brings Huge Devastation
MYANMAR EARTHQUAKE – United States Pres. Donald Trump assured that his country will provide help to Myanmar following the 7.7 magnitude quake flattening buildings and taking lives.
Recalling the global history, there were several huge quakes that have rocked the different countries across the globe. While they come in rare occurrences, these strong quakes have cost hundreds of lives and brought buildings with enormous heights down.

Recently, another unfortunate incident has joined the list in the global history — a 7.7 magnitude earthquake jolted regions in Myanmar and Thailand. The United States Geological Survey or the USGS record shows that the epicenter of the quake is at central Myanmar, around 17.2 kilometers from the city of Mandalay.

Mandalay is the second largest city in Myanmar. Around 1.5 million people are residing in the city. It is the ancient royal capital of the country and the center of Buddhism. According to USGS, the quake hit at a depth of 10 kilometers or 6.2 miles.

Based on a report on GMA News, the 7.7 magnitude Myanmar earthquake has left dozens of monks in Mandalay trapped under rubble in the Phaya Taung Monastery. An Amanpura rescuer also claimed recovering 30 bodies from a collapsed multi-storey apartment blocks.
According to the unnamed rescuer, he has never experienced like it before and they are getting a lot of calls for help. He stressed that the quake has left their town to be looking like a collapsed city. The rescuer admitted that they are short in manpower and machines to remove the debris but assured that they will continue to help.
Based on the report, General Min Aung Hlaing, the leader of Junta which is Myanmar’s military, called for international help following the impact of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake. United States Pres. Donald Trump assured that they will help Myanmar.
“We’re going to be helping,” Trump said.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce assured that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) disaster experts are ready to extend help including extending relief food and potable water.
The Myanmar earthquake has brought severe devastation in several regions in the country. It has collapsed a five-storey building that led to the loss of many lives. Many people are on the roads now after losing their homes nor amid the fear of returning inside the structure. The strong quake was previously followed by a 6.4 magnitude aftershock.
