Statement of Malacañang on Election Bets of Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago
MALACAÑANG – The Palace spoke on the absence of senators Imee Marcos and Pia Cayetano at the campaign rally of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago in Tacloban.
The different political parties in the Philippines are currently busy campaigning for the fast-approaching May 2025 Midterm Elections in the country. The poll includes both local and national elections. Some of the biggest political parties have formed an alliance.

The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the Lakas-CMD, the National Unity Party (NUP), the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), and the Nacionalista Party has formed the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago. The endorsement of their bets is led by Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
The Alyansa has held several campaign sorties already as the 2025 Elections is fast approaching. Pres. Marcos called the Alyansa senatorial bets as a “dream team”.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, he will be the luckiest president if all candidates in the senatorial slate of the alliance make it to victory in the upcoming elections. He endorsed the alliance’s bets saying they all have experience in public service.

Marcos also encouraged the Filipino voters not to listen to “all talk” candidates and vote for the ones who really work. Here are the senatorial bets of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago:
- Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos
- Makati City Mayor Abby Binay
- Sen. Lito Lapid
- Senator Pia Cayetano
- Sen. Francis Tolentino
- former Sen. Manny Pacquiao
- Senator Ramon ”Bong” Revilla Jr.
- former Senator Panfilo Lacson
- Deputy Speaker Camille Villar
- former Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo
- former Senator Vicente Sotto III
However, following the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, Sen. Imee Marcos skipped a campaign rally of the Alyansa in Tacloban. According to her, she cannot accept what was done to former Pres. Duterte and wants to seek solution to clarify the situation.
Sen. Imee Marcos also called for a Senate investigation of the arrest of Duterte. Aside from the presidential sister, Sen. Pia Cayetano and Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar also skipped the Tacloban campaign of the grand alliance. Malacañang was asked for a comment about it.

Based on a report on GMA News, Malacañang press officer Atty. Claire Castro said that the feelings of the candidates are beyond the control of the palace. She stressed to just let the candidates be.

Based on the report, Malacañang also aired the belief of Pres. Bongbong Marcos that the recent happenings would affect the campaign of the alliance. However, the Palace Press Officer expressed doubts if it would affect the candidates individually.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos earned a fiery message form Davao Mayor Baste Duterte following the arrest of the former President. He also recalled that the hero’s burial for Marcos Sr. was made possible because of FPRRD.
