Sen. Imee Marcos Speaks on Absence at Alyansa Event in Cavite
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator once again skipped the campaign rally of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago led by President Bongbong Marcos to focus on the arrest of Duterte.
The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte gained different reactions from the senators. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero previously expressed his belief that there was a legal process in the arrest of the former President who is faced with an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.

For his part, Sen. Bato dela Rosa called Duterte’s arrest a “betrayal” by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to him, the Chief Executive did not stand by his words when he said that he will not allow the foreign court in the country.

Presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos was shocked by the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. It is no secret to the public that while she is the sister of the President who is earned a lot of criticisms over the arrest of Duterte, she and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte are good friends.

Previously, following Duterte’s controversial arrest, Sen. Marcos skipped the Alyansa campaign rally in Tacloban. The endorsements of the bets of the alliance are led by no other than her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to the Senator, she cannot accept what was done to Duterte and wants to investigate his arrest.

Sen. Imee Marcos led the investigation of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. According to Sen. Marcos, she and Pres. Bongbong Marcos have yet to talk over Duterte’s arrest. She believes that there is allegedly no due process in the arrest of the former President.
Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos once again skipped the BBM-led Alyansa campaign rally. She did not attend the campaign sortie of the grand alliance in Cavite. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, she wants to focus on the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
“Ang mahalaga sa akin ay tutukan ang kaso ng pagtangay sa isang kapwa Pilipino na isinuko ng ating pamahalaan sa isang banyagang institusyon sa ibang bansa. Pagkat sa kabila ng kampanya at pulitika, napakahalaga nito para sa ating mga kababayan,” the Senator said.
Based on the report, Sen. Marcos stressed that the issue is not just about former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Previously, at the hearing, Marcos expressed that Duterte was surrendered like he has no country of his own and the Philippines cannot judge her own people.
