Sen. Cynthia Villar Says She Just Wants To Live A Simple Life

CYNTHIA VILLAR – The Senator who is in her last term in the Senate now downplayed being interested to be a House Speaker saying she has not much ambition in life anymore.

There are lawmakers in the Philippine Senate who are currently on their last senatorial term. One of them is the matriarch of the Villar family who first won a seat in the upper chamber in 2013. She ran under the late former President Noynoy Aquino, the rival of her husband, former Sen. Manny Villar, during the 2010 presidential elections.

Sen. Cynthia Villar also had experiences of leading the Senate Agriculture and Food Committee and the Senate Government Corporations and Public Enterprises Committee. Now that she is on her last term in the Senate, there are questions and speculations if she wants to be a House Speaker.

Sen. Villar is running for congresswoman of Las Piñas City in the 2025 Midterm Elections. Previously, Villar expressed her family’s plan to distribute lands to Las Piñas City if they support her in the upcoming election. Otherwise, their family’s plan might change saying that things should be reciprocal.

Recently, based on a report on GMA News Balitambayan, Sen. Cynthia Villar downplayed being interested to be the House Speaker of the House of Representatives if she wins the Las Piñas City congressional race. According to the Villar matriarch, she has not much ambition in life.

“I just want to live a simple and productive life. Wala na ako masyadong ambisyon,” the outgoing Senator said.

In the upcoming 2025 Midterm Election, Sen. Villar’s daughter, Camille Villar, is the one who will run for senator. If she wins the senatorial race, she will join her brother, Sen. Mark Villar, in the upper chamber. He still has three (3) years left in his senatorial term.
