Pres. Bongbong Marcos Signs New Order for Hike on Military Personnel Subsistence Allowance
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President ordered the increase of the subsistence allowance of the military personnel under the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
In the Philippines, the military forces are the Armed Forces of the Philippines which are consists of the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. They are entitled to different kinds of allowances from the government depending on the requirement of their duties.

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos brought a good news to the military personnel of the AFP. Based on a report on GMA News, the Chief Executive approved the increase of the subsistence allowance of the military personnel of the AFP to P350 daily.

The increase on the subsistence allowance of the military personnel brings the allowance to more than twice (2) of its original amount — from P150 to P350 per day now effective January 1, 2025. The Executive Order No. 84 was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on behalf of the President.

The subsistence allowance is for the following:
- AFP officers and enlisted personnel
- Trainees and probationary second lieutenants/ensigns undergoing military training
- Citizen Military Training cadets on summer camp training
- reserve officers and enlisted reservists undergoing training and assembly/mobilization test
- Citizen Armed Force Geographical UnitX
- Cadets
Based on the report, with regards to the source of the budget intended for the increase of the subsistence allowance of the military personnel under the AFP, it will be charged against the institution’s available appropriations under the 2025 budget as well as other sources that the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) will specify.
Reportedly, the order approved by Pres. Bongbong Marcos is set to take effect immediately upon the publication of the Executive Order No. 84 in the Official Gazette. The AFP has yet to comment on the matter.
Amid the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte that is hooking the Filipinos now, the AFP previously denied the claims that many members of the military resigned following the arrest of the former President.
On Monday, Duterte who just arrived from Hong Kong was arrested by the authorities after the International Criminal Court (ICC) reportedly issued an arrest warrant against him. He was flown en route for the Netherlands on the same day.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that the arrest of former Pres. Duterte followed the procedure needed. The Chie Executive earned a lot of negative comments for allegedly betraying the country and the Filipinos.
