Bato dela Rosa Claims PNP Recalled his Security Details after Duterte’s Arrest

Sen. Bato dela Rosa Clueless about Recall of his PNP Security Details

BATO DELA ROSA – The Senator claimed that the Philippine National Police (PNP) has recalled his security details days after the arrest of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

It is no secret to the public that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has long been investigating the war on drugs of the Duterte administration. The intent of the foreign court to probe the most popular campaign of the previous administration did not sit well with then-Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

In 2019, Duterte removed the Philippines from the jurisdiction of the ICC. Last March 11, unexpectedly, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) following an arrest warrant issued by the foreign court. The ICC welcomed the arrest and the transfer of Duterte’s custody to them.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is detained in The Hague, Netherlands for over a week now. There are also speculations that the ICC may release more arrest warrants against some key officials during Duterte’s term. One of them is Sen. Bato dela Rosa.

Sen. Bato dela Rosa was the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the Duterte administration. Previously, he expressed willingness to join the former President in The Hague and take care of him in case all legal remedies will fail.

However, in his recent pronouncements, the former PNP chief turned Senator seems to be having a different plan now. Sen. Dela Rosa even admitted that hiding is part of his course of actions if the ICC issues an arrest warrant against him.

Recently, Sen. Bato dela Rosa claimed that his PNP security details were recalled days after the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Based on a report on Inquirer, the Senator claimed he only knew about it when he returned to Davao.

“Itong pag-uwi ko sa Davao, wala na akong security. Pinapa-report na lang sila sa unit nila. Hindi ko alam kung kailan sila pina-report ha? Dahil naka-standby ‘man sila dito,” the Senator said.

Based on the report, Sen. Dela Rosa stressed he really does not know the details about the recall of his PNP security details as he is busy campaigning. He is running for reelection under the Duterte-led PDP-Laban. Previously, Sen. Robin Padilla also went to The Hague to ask Duterte about their party’s political plans.
