Bianca Umali Reveals Struggles W/ Bullying in the Entertainment Industry
BIANCA UMALI – Actress Bianca Umali breaks her silence, revealing experiences of bullying in the showbiz industry.
Kapuso actress Bianca Umali recently shared her experiences of being bullied when she was starting out in the entertainment industry. In an episode of GTV’s cooking talk show, Lutong Bahay, which aired on January 30, Bianca and her grandmother, Lola Vicky, reminisced about their humble beginnings in showbiz and the challenges they faced.
Bianca revealed that there were moments when they felt bullied, but she never retaliated. “May mga stories si Mama [her Lola Vicky] na sometimes we would get a little bullied and all that, [pero] never siyang pumatol. Ever. Never,” she said. Her resilience was strengthened by the values imparted by her grandmother, who always reminded her that her time would come.
She recalled, “What she always told me was, ‘Darating din ‘yung oras mo,’ Kami rin kasi talaga ‘yung pinakabago noon.” The young actress emphasized how these experiences pushed her to work harder and persevere despite the difficulties.
Lola Vicky also reminisced about their early struggles. “Kasi, noong bago siya, kapag may taping, sila naka– mayroon silang mga kama, kami hindi. Nandoon lang kami sa sahig.” she recounted. However, she was proud of the progress Bianca had made, affirming that their situation had significantly improved. “Noon lang, pero sandali lang ‘yun! Nagbago na siya. Sumikat na rin,” she added.
Bianca acknowledged how she used to observe her co-celebrities from a distance, admiring their success but never speaking up about her own aspirations. “Maybe I think it was those times na she would see me looking [at co-celebrities]. May mga ganoong moment, ‘di ba? ‘Yung makikita mo na nakatingin ‘yung bata, pero [hindi ako nagsasalita],” she shared.
Despite facing hardships at a young age, Bianca matured quickly and held on to the principles instilled in her by Lola Vicky. “Kasi nga na-instill sa amin ni Mama na kung ano ‘yung wala, e, wala. Paghirapan mo para magkaroon ka, and that was okay. We were happy. As long as alam namin na mama was there,” she concluded.
Bianca’s journey is a testament to resilience and perseverance, proving that success comes with patience and hard work. Her experiences serve as an inspiration to many aspiring actors who face similar struggles in the industry.
