Authorities Save Child Held Hostage by Father in Taytay, Rizal
HOSTAGE – Authorities successfully rescued a child who was held hostage by her father along C-6 Road in Taytay, Rizal.
A harrowing hostage incident took place on Saturday evening along C-6 Road in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal, where a construction worker held his one-year-old daughter hostage.
Col. Felipe Maraggun, Rizal police provincial director, identified the man as Marvin, who used a karambit knife to threaten his daughter, Lady Natalie. According to a report by Inquirer, the situation reportedly arose from Marvin’s panic upon seeing barangay officials approach his residence. The officials were responding to a complaint from Marvin’s wife, accusing him of raping his stepdaughter.
Taytay Mayor Allan Martine De Leon, together with Col. Maraggun, led negotiations for the child’s safe release. After an hour of tense dialogue, Marvin released Lady Natalie unharmed.
Following the incident, Marvin was immediately taken into custody. He faces several charges, including serious illegal detention, alarm and scandal, and illegal possession of a deadly weapon.
The swift resolution was made possible through the coordinated efforts of local officials and law enforcement, highlighting the importance of prompt action in crisis situations. Mayor De Leon commended the authorities for their professionalism and for ensuring the child’s safety.
