‘Drag Race’ Alum Explains Meaning Behind Her ‘Kaliwa’ & ‘Kanan’ Tattoos

‘Drag Race’ Star Gets ‘Kaliwa’ & ‘Kanan’ Tattoos

DRAG RACE – “Drag Race” alum Eva Le Queen shares the story behind her ‘Kaliwa’ and ‘Kanan’ tattoos, revealing their practical and personal significance.

Eva Le Queen has made waves in the drag world since her debut. Known for her villain-inspired looks and comedic talent, she rose to prominence as a contestant on the first season of Drag Race Philippines. Her journey continues as she is set to compete in the highly anticipated RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars, announced on July 15, 2024.

Before gracing the stage as a drag queen, Eva worked as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Singapore for eight years. She balanced dual lives, excelling in her corporate job by day and embracing her drag persona by night. This dedication paid off when, just four months into her drag career, she earned first runner-up in Singapore’s Drag It Out All-Stars competition.

Eva’s drag aesthetic draws from literary and cinematic villains, blending dramatic looks with sharp comedic prowess. Her versatility has earned her a loyal fanbase and a prominent position in the drag scene. A resident queen at Nectar Nightclub and a co-founder of Drag Playhouse PH, Eva has been instrumental in shaping the Philippine drag community.

In addition to her on-stage achievements, Eva has shared personal milestones with her followers. One notable story revolves around the tattoos on her hands. The words “kaliwa” (left) and “kanan” (right) are inked on her respective hands.

She revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that these tattoos are among the best gifts she has given herself. “One of the best gifts I gave myself is being able to tell which is which,” she joked. The tattoos, numbered 12 and 13 in her collection, were particularly meaningful as she had recently obtained her driver’s license in April 2024.

Eva even encouraged her followers to tag her if they chose to follow her tattoo idea, showcasing her signature humor and connection with her fans.
