Government Offers P15,000 Cash Grant for Qualified College Students
COLLEGE STUDENTS – The government has announced an exciting opportunity for qualified college students to receive a ₱15,000 cash grant.
Some 137,000 college students across the Philippines are set to benefit from the government’s Tulong Dunong Program (TDP), which has been allocated a budget of P2.06 billion under the 2025 General Appropriations Act.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Quezon City Representative Marvin Rillo, vice chairperson of the House of Representatives’ Higher and Technical Education Committee, shared that each beneficiary will receive P15,000 in cash assistance for the academic year. “In the 2025 General Appropriations Law, Congress earmarked the sum of P2.06 billion for the TDP, which provides grantees with cash aid of P7,500 per semester, or P15,000 per academic year,” Rillo said in a statement on Sunday.
Rillo, who is also a member of the House Appropriations Panel, emphasized Congress’ commitment to sustaining the annual funding for the program. “We are absolutely determined to keep up the annual funding for the TDP, which has helped to lessen the financial difficulties of students pursuing their college education,” he said.
The TDP, managed under the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), is one of the government’s tertiary education subsidy programs. It aims to ease the financial burden of college students by covering at least part of their education-related expenses.
According to the report, to qualify for the program, both new and continuing grantees must be enrolled in any undergraduate program at a CHEd-accredited public or private college or university. Beneficiaries are required to submit certified true copies or electronically generated certificates of enrollment from their respective institutions.
The cash aid is intended to cover various education-related costs, enabling students to focus on their academic pursuits without being overly burdened by financial constraints.
The sustained funding of the TDP reflects the government’s commitment to improving access to higher education and supporting Filipino students in achieving their academic goals. This initiative aligns with efforts to promote inclusive education and empower the nation’s youth as they build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
