Update on Neri Naig-Miranda Following Arrest
NERI NAIG-MIRANDA – A Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Pasay City ordered the immediate release of the actress-businesswoman.
In the Philippines, one of the actress who has widely ventured the field of business is Neri Naig, the wife of Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda. She is even known as “Wais na Misis” for her expertise in making money through businesses and budgeting the household.
However, last month, countless people were surprised when Neri Naig-Miranda was arrested at the Pasay Convention Center. Initially, it started as a rumor until the authorities and Neri’s husband, Chito Miranda, confirmed the arrest of the actress-businesswoman.
Chito Miranda broke his silence on the arrest of Neri Naig whom he described as a very kind person. According to the Parokya ni Edgar lead vocalist, his wife was the endorser of a certain business, the Dermacare, but she is the one being sued by the victims of the business.
Chito also claimed that it is not the first time that his wife faced charges. However, according to the singer, this time, Neri did not receive any document and she even had no hints of the arrest. She was brought to the Pasay City Jail female dormitory for her detention.
An estafa case in relation to the Presidential Decree 1689 and 14 counts of violation of Section 28 of the Republic Act 8799 or the Securities Regulation Code were filed against Neri Naig-Miranda. The issue gained different reactions from the public.
Former Senator Kiko Pangilinan expressed support to Neri Naig and Chito Miranda amid the legal battle faced by the actress-businesswoman. The celebrity couple has two (2) young sons, Miguel and Cash. However, one of the charges filed against Neri does not permit her to post bail.
The arraignment of the case of Neri Naig-Miranda was set on January but it was recently re-scheduled back to December. Recently, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) revealed that a Pasay Court has ordered the immediate release of the actress-businesswoman.
Based on a report on GMA News, BJMP spokesperson Jail Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said they received a court order issued by the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 112 ordering the release of Nerizza Miranda. The camp of the actress-businesswoman has denied the allegations against her.

The lawyer of the complainants of Neri Naig previously claimed that the investment issue has reached P89 million. Amid the detention of the actress-businesswoman, actress Rufa Mae Quinto also reportedly has a warrant of arrest as an endorser of the same business.
