Gratuity Pay of Contractual, Job Order Government Workers Gains Marcos’ Approval

Pres. Bongbong Marcos OKs Gratuity Pay of COS, JO Government Employees

GRATUITY PAY – Philippine President Bongbong Marcos approved the yearend pay for the contractual and job order workers of the government.

At the end of the year, many people receive different kinds of bonuses and extra pays from the government and their employers. Most individuals who are working in the government and the private sector receive a 13th month pay which is mandated by the law.

In the case of the government employees, they also receive the service recognition incentives or also popularly called the SRI. Recently, the Office of the President has released an order mandating the release of the SRI of the government workers.

Bongbong Marcos

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, by the authority of the President, issued the Administrative Order No. 27 which mandates the release of P20,000 SRI for the government workers at a uniform rate of P20,000 each. The order mandate the release of the SRI beginning December 15, 2024.

The following are entitled to the service recognition incentives:

  • civilian personnel is under a regular, contractual, or casual positions
  • personnel have rendered a minimum of an aggregate of four months of satisfactory service as of November 30, 2024
  • personnel remains in government service as of November 30, 2024
  • personnel has not received any additional year-end benefit in FY 2024 over and above the authorized under RA No. 6686

Department of National Defense (DND)

  • military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)

  • uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)

Department of Justice

  • Bureau of Corrections

Department of Transportation

  • Philippine Coast Guard

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)

  • National Mapping and Resource Information Authority

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also approved the releasing of the gratuity pay for the contractual and job order workers of the government. Based on a report on GMA News, the one-time gratuity pay is up to Php 7,000 for the contract of service (COS) and job contract (JO) employees.

The national government released the Administrative Order 28 mandating the release of the gratuity pay for the COS and JO rendered a total of at least four months of actual satisfactory performance of service. Meanwhile, based on the report, those who did not reach a 4-month service is entitled to the following:

  • maximum of P6,000 for those who rendered service for three months but less than four months
  • maximum of P5,000 for those who rendered service for two months but less than three months
  • maximum of P4,000 for those who rendered service for less than two months
