Anthony Jennings Breaks Silence on Social Media, Promotes MMFF Film
ANTHONY JENNINGS – Actor Anthony Jennings makes a much-anticipated social media comeback following his controversial cheating scandal.
After weeks of staying away from social media following a cheating controversy, Anthony Jennings has returned to the platform to promote his Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, And The Breadwinner Is….
The actor took to Instagram on Monday, Dec. 23, to share the official poster of the Jun Lana-directed film. His caption read, “TWO DAYS NA LANG, YAYAIN NA ANG BUONG PAMILYA!” (Just two more days, bring the whole family!), signaling excitement for the movie’s release.
Despite the enthusiastic promotion, Jennings and his co-star Maris Racal, who is also his love team partner, were notably absent at the film’s premiere night on the same day. This raised eyebrows, as the pair has been at the center of a public controversy.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Vice Ganda, Eugene Domingo, Gladys Reyes, Jhong Hilario, MC, Lassy, Kokoy de Santos, and Joel Torre, promising a mix of humor and heartfelt moments.
Jennings and Racal have been embroiled in controversy after Jennings’ non-showbiz ex-girlfriend, Jamela Villanueva, released screenshots of intimate conversations between the actor and Racal. The revelations came before Villanueva and Jennings ended their relationship.
Racal later admitted her involvement, stating that she was misled by Jennings, who allegedly claimed that his relationship with Villanueva had ended before he began courting her.
Jennings, for his part, issued a public apology to Racal and Villanueva. In his statement, he expressed regret for the pain he caused but did not provide further details about the incident.
Fans and critics alike are divided on Jennings’ return to the limelight, with some praising his focus on professional commitments and others questioning his silence on the scandal’s unresolved aspects.
And The Breadwinner Is… opens in cinemas nationwide on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, as part of the MMFF lineup, and the public awaits whether Jennings and Racal’s personal lives will impact the film’s reception.
