Update on Dismissed Mayor Alice Guo over her Misrepresentation Case

ALICE GUO – The dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor pleaded not guilty on the material misrepresentation case and her camp eyes to post bail.

One of the high-profile personalities arrested and detained in the Philippines this year is dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo. Several charges were filed against the former Mayor amid his questionable identity as well as her supposed link to the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in the country.

The Senate issued an arrest warrant versus Guo. However, she was in hiding since July until September 4 of this year when the Indonesian authorities arrested her in a rented apartment in Jakarta, Indonesia. She was turned over to the Philippine authorities and was brought back home to the country. The former Mayor is currently detained in Pasig City jail.

Alice Guo recently pleaded not guilty on the graft charges filed against her. She made the plea at the hearing held at the Valenzuela Regional Trial Court (RTC) early last month. The dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor is also faced with a material misrepresentation case.

The material misrepresentation case came after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed that the fingerprints of Guo matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping. The findings suggest that she is the same person with the Chinese national who entered the country in 2003. The former Mayor denied the allegations stressing that she is a Filipino.

Recently, a hearing was held regarding the material misrepresentation complaint filed against Alice Guo before a Tarlac Court. Based on a report on GMA News, the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor pleaded “not guilty”.

The former Mayor made the “not guilty” plea on the material misrepresentation case regarding her 2022 Elections candidacy before the Capas Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 66. According to Guo’s legal counsel, Attorney Nicole Jamila, the former Mayor attended the arraignment of the case through a video conference.

Based on the report, the camp of former mayor Alice Guo also eyes to post bail by next week for the temporary release of the former mayor. The lawyer stressed that they will prepare the requirements for bail since the offense filed against the former mayor is bailable.

Aside from the material misrepresentation case, Guo is also faced with a quo warranto petition and a tax evasion complaint among others. The former Mayor denied the charges against her.

Previously, the former Mayor was rumored to be seeking for re-election in the 2025 Midterm Elections. Guo did not file her candidacy saying that she will first clean her name from the accusations.
