Rodrigo Duterte on Alleged Motives of Malacañang against him: “Wala naman kaming kasalanan sa kanila”

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte Claims Trillanes’ Attacks Allegedly “Malacañang-Sponsored”

RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President claimed that Malacañang allegedly used former Senator Antonio Trillanes against him during the House Quad Committee hearing.

The recent rare appearance of former Pres. Duterte at the war on drugs hearing of the House Quad Committee came as a surprise to many Filipinos. The Quad Comm has conducted hearings several times already and it was the first time that the former President appeared at the inquiry.

During the past hearings, the non-appearance of Duterte was supported by several reasons — the former President is not feeling well, he has doubts on the integrity and independence of the House Quad Comm, and the transportation is costly for him.

At the House Quad Comm hearing, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte confirmed that he gave cash rewards to the cops during the war on drugs campaign of his administration. He made the remarks despite his previous statements denying the money reward system allegation.

The House Quad Comm also invited former Senators Leila de Lima and Antonio Trillanes IV who are both staunch critics of former Pres. Duterte and his admin’s war on drugs campaign. During the inquiry, Duterte almost threw the microphone to Trillanes following his accusations.

Trillanes had strong accusations that the war on drugs campaign is allegedly fake as it was only done to protect Michael Yang. He also challenged the former President to sign a bank secrecy waiver for his account to be checked.

Recently, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte spoke on the alleged attacks of former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV against him and claimed that Malacañang is supposedly behind it. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, in a phone call to former presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo, the former Chief Executive claimed that Trillanes was allegedly paid.

“Itong si Trillanes talagang Malacañang-sponsored yan. Hindi gagalaw yan ng ganoon, walang pera yan,” the former President said.

Based on the report, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte also expressed confusion as to why Malacañang is allegedly doing it. He stressed that he and his family have no mistakes against the President.

“Nagtataka ako bakit ang Malacañang ginagawa. Wala naman kaming kasalanan sa kanila. Hindi naman ako nag-aatake kay Presidente. Pero alam ko si Trillanes nagtatrabaho kay President Marcos,” Duterte said.

At the House hearing, former Pres. Duterte challenged the ICC to come to the Philippines and investigate him. Following his remarks, Marcos Jr. said that they will not stop nor help the international court.
