Police Fail To Serve Arrest Warrant vs. Ken Chan over Estafa Case
KEN CHAN – The Kapuso Actor is reportedly faced with a non-bailable estafa case due to an alleged P14 million investment scam.
In the Philippine showbiz industry, Ken is one of the most popular and in-demand actors and leading man. He has starred several TV series that hooked the Filipino viewers. Undeniably, many were in awe of him when he portrayed his role in the 2018 hit drama TV series My Special Tatay.
Working opposite with Kapuso actress Rita Daniela, Ken Chan played the character of Boyet, a young man with special needs who accidentally became a father. Aside from the said role, he is also known as Doc Lyndon, one of the characters in the hit TV series Abot Kamay na Pangarap which aired for 2 years.
However, countless people were surprised by the sudden exit of Ken from Abot Kamay na Pangarap. It came amid the rumors that an actor is facing financial problems for stealing a huge amount of money. There are also rumors that an actor was left by his business partners who got away with a huge amount.
The sudden exit of the character of Ken in Abot Kamay na Pangarap was linked by countless viewers to the rumors. While he was missing in action or MIA, Ken did not fail to express his gratitude over an award to him.
Later on, it was confirmed that Ken Chan is really facing a serious case. Based on a report on GMA News, the Kapuso star is currently faced with an estafa case that, according to Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code, is ‘non-bailable and punishable with life imprisonment’.
The police reportedly went to the residence of Ken in Quezon City but there was negative presence of the Kapuso actor. The authorities were also not able to obtain information regarding his whereabouts.
Based on the report, the complainant in the case is a businessman who is aged between 40 to 50 who wants to keep his identity from the public. Atty. Joseph Noel Estrada and Atty. Maverick Romero of Estrada & Aquino Law Office represent the anonymous complainant.
Aside from Ken Chan, seven others are reportedly facing estafa charges due to an alleged investment scam that amount to P14 million. According to Atty. Estrada, his client gave money to Ken and the other co-accused twice in a year.
Estrada further expressed that Ken and his co-accused are not allowed to solicit investments. In September, the authorities also went to the house of the Kapuso actor but he was no-show then.
